From Web Development to Zimbabwe.
Anita has always had a love for computers, and for over 20 years she worked in web development, e-commerce and online business. However, in an overly consumerist world, she felt little purpose in selling goods to people who didn't really need them.
She initially dismissed Bitcoin back in 2011, as just another Paypal. However, in 2017 she came across a talk about blockchain, from an economics professor, and after taking a deep dive, realised that a technology that was censorship-resistance, inflation-proof, and a global money could free billions of people disenfranchised by corrupt governments. This was a purpose she could get behind.
She went on to translate two volumes of Andreas Antonopoulos, ‘The Internet of Money’, published her own book called ‘(L)earn Bitcoin’, started a podcast and YouTube channel, founded Bitcoin for Fairness, a non-profit initiative with the goal to foster Bitcoin adoption in emerging countries, and was the first Bitcoiner to travel to Zimbabwe to conduct research on the country’s monetary situation as well as the Bitcoin adoption rate. Anita has been sharing her knowledge in El Salvador, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe in recent years.
She is improving the lives of those most underprivileged and is building a bridge from them to the rest of the world. She is a truly amazing woman and I am honoured to announce that she will be speaking at CowShed, reporting back from those most in need.
